The
Scholarship
The
Welsh Livery Guild was
established in 1993 for the purpose of promoting the arts, science and
technology in Wales and, in particular, for the development of the
skills and
professional competences within these activities.
One of the ways it achieves these objectives
is by offering a limited number of £1000 Travel Scholarships in various
sectors
of education and personal development.
Purpose
of the Scholarship
The Scholarship is to enable
recipients – often, but not necessarily, post-graduate students – to
travel
abroad and to undertake a study project which will significantly assist
in
furthering their careers and enhancing and developing their talents.
Qualification
for the Scholarship
The Guild is established for the
benefit of the people of Wales.
Candidates, who should generally be within the age range
of 21 to 35,
will therefore need to demonstrate by a blend of birth, upbringing,
residency,
or employment that they have a commitment to Wales.
They should present a proposal which is
compatible with the overall purpose of the Scholarship.
Application
for a Scholarship
Applicants should complete the attached form and enclose it with an outline of their project (not more than 500 words) describing their proposal and why it would help them to develop their future career. The outline should also show the itinerary and an indicative budget (flights, daily subsistence, etc.). The completed form and enclosure should be submitted by email to :
mrkeitharnold@shirenewton.mail1.co.uk
The authors of the best proposals,
as judged by the Guild, will be invited for interview.
The Scholarship Winner
The
successful candidate will generally be expected to make the study trip
during
the third quarter of the year. It
is a
condition of the award that, on return, the recipient of the award
submits a
report – by the end of September if possible – including, if possible,
some
photographs. Guidance
on the content of
the report will be provided.
The report
will be retained in the Guild’s archives.
Award recipients are responsible for their own safety
whilst undertaking
their project.
